Offer for HKSAR Smart Identity Card Holders
of the HKSAR Smart Identity Card project, which serves to
bring new ease of convenience and efficiency to the benefits
of Hong Kong people. Upon the replacement of their new cards
from 2003, each Smart ID Card holders will be entitled to
a free Hongkong Post e-Cert, designed to safeguard users'
private data. The new initiatives will serve to enhance the
range of products and services that we're launching to protect
the digital security of Hong Kong people.

Cooperation
Arrangement Between Hongkong Post and Guangdong Electronic
Certification Authority on Cross Certification Arrangement
CA and Guangdong Electronic Certification Authority signed
a "Cross Certification Cooperation Arrangement"
in Guangzhou. This collaboration signifies HKP's initiative
in promoting closer ties with the certification authorities
in the Mainland and in fostering e-commerce activities between
Hong Kong and Guangdong.

New Era for Hongkong Post e-Cert Services
Form
In an endeavor to simplify the application form and provide
a one-stop service for our subscribers, we have combined the
e-Cert Application Form and the Subscriber Agreement into
a consolidated application document. Now, You can fill in
the e-Cert application form, sign the subscriber agreement,
confirm the appointment of your Authorised Representative
and view other application details with at-a-glance clarity.

A free e-Cert delivery service is now available to our e-Cert
subscribers.
Subscribers or Authorised Representatives are no longer required
to visit post office to collect the certificate file or PIN
Mailer. Instead, the certificate file or PIN Mailer will be
delivered to an address designated by the subscribers or authorised
representatives at FREE OF CHARGE.

To provide an extra peace of mind to our subscribers,
we offer a Central Key Generation service to our subscribers
in generating their key pair and certificate. The key pair
and certificate will be prepared within our secure facilities,
stored in a floppy disk and packed in a tamper-proof envelope
before delivering to the subscribers. If subscribers wish
to "do it themselves", we can provide the necessary
user software on a complimentary basis. Subscribers can simply
use their own computers and generate the key pair at their
fingertips. All it requires is to insert the e-Cert software
CD-Rom in a CD-Rom drive, and then the set-up program will
be run automatically.
Now, Hongkong Post e-Cert (Personal) certificate holders
can conveniently and quickly renew their e-Certs online. Subscribers
are simply required to complete a renewal form and follow
payment instructions at https://www.hongkongpost.gov.hk/5digital/dc1_frRenewal.html.
The renewed certificate file will be delivered to the subscriber
directly.
Now you can carry that confidence with you and safeguard
all of your critical information by using iKey, a new storage
media, offered by Hongkong Post CA. The iKey is an USB-based
secure token designed for cost-effective and easy-to-use control
and protection for your private/public key-pairs and digital
certificates.

The Electronic Tendering System (ETS) of the Government Supplies
Department has begun its operation to provide an electronic
means through the use of Internet technology for handling
tender and related activities. Using e-Cert (Organisational)
certificates, suppliers can sign tender documents and submit
