1. Smart Card and Digital Certificate -- Key e-Business Enabler (by SecureNet Asia Limited)

2. Smart ID Card Free e-Cert Programme

the existing Hong Kong Identity Cards (HKID) will be replaced in phases by the new multi-applications smart ID cards. The new multi-applications smart ID card will include an option of a one-year free use of Hongkong Post e-Cert embedded in the card's memory chip. The application process of embedding an e-Cert in the card will be integrated as part of the one-stop smart ID card replacement program. Every card holder can visit the Hongkong Post e-Cert service counters at the Smart Identity Card Centre to opt-in for a free Hongkong Post e-Cert at the time of application for the new ID card. Applicants will be requested to present the existing ID card for registration and data verification. After the registration process is completed, the e-Cert will then be embedded in the new smart ID card and will be available at the time of collection of the new ID card.

3. e-Cert User Software Supports Windows XP, Internet Explorer 6.0 and Netscape 7.0

Software is launched to support subscribers of e-Cert (Personal), e-Cert (Organisational) and e-Cert (Encipherment), who have indicated their preferences to generate their key pairs and e-Certs on their own computers when submitting their applications. The new software can support Windows XP platform (Home and Professional versions); as well as Internet Explorer 6.0 and Netscape 7.0 browsers. The software can be downloaded on this page:

Upon successful installation of the new software, e-Cert users can use it to download e-Certs.

4. New e-Cert Application--i.Secure Office

plug-in module for Microsoft Office (97/2000/XP). It can make use of Hongkong Post e-Cert to digitally sign and protect sensitive documents together with an iKey (USB-based token). With the digital signature, document integrity can be guaranteed while documents protected by i.Secure Office can be shared with others safely. i.Secure Office is seamlessly integrated with Microsoft Office and the existing workflow will remain unchanged. Users can enjoy the features of i.Secure Office easily without any special training. All encryption and decryption are executed on-the-fly, and plain copy of the document never exists on the hard disk. i.Secure Office is suitable for personal and commercial use. It is designed not just for IT professionals, but also for general computer users. 5. Mobile e-Cert Application--Secure mPay

e-Cert, AsiaPay (Hong Kong) Limited has launched its secure mobile payment solutions "Secure mPay" on 22 August 2002. 6. Special Promotion of iKey 2000

7. Update on HKPKI Forum

8. New Online Services for SME Funding Schemes

and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Hong Kong, the Trade and Industry Department (TID) launched four SME funding schemes in late 2001/early 2002. The four funding schemes are, namely the SME Business Installations and Equipment Loan Guarantee Scheme (BIG), SME Export Marketing Fund (EMF), SME Training Fund (STF), and SME Development Fund (SDF). As part of the Government's on-going efforts to promote e-business and the wider use of information technology in the Government and the community, TID has recently launched new online services in the website of the four SME funding schemes at http://www.smefund.tid.gov.hk.

The model is a replica of the General Post Office (1911-1976). The General Post Office was located in Pedder Street, Central and was the third Post Office headquarter in Hong Kong.
