ID card program
i)
Launch of a new TV advertising campaign
A
series of TV commercials are now being broadcasted
on TV and buses to promote the "One-Year-Free e-Cert with smart ID card" program. Our e-Cert Ambassadors, Mr. Ekin Cheng and Ms. Miriam Yeung, featured
in the TV commercials, introduce to the audience
details about the free e-Cert program as well
as various usages of the e-Cert embedded with
the smart ID card. You can click to view the 30-second TV commercial.
ii)
Free souvenir covers distributed to free e-Cert
registrants
Hongkong
Post issued a souvenir cover on 9 August to commemorate
the offer of the one-year-free e-Cert to smart
ID card holders. This specially designed souvenir
cover is now given free to residents who apply
to embed the e-Cert in their smart ID cards at
the 20 designated post offices and at the Hongkong Post e-Cert service counters located in the Immigration
Department's Smart ID Card Centres.
This
souvenir cover adopts a strong "virtual" motif to highlight the role of the e-Cert as an ID card in the cyber world.
The cover is printed with the image of the two
e-Cert ambassadors, Ms Miriam Yeung and Mr Ekin
Cheng, and is affixed with a HK$ 1.40 definitive
stamp cancelled by the specially designed postmark.

Department's Smart Identity Card Centres (SIDCC) to assist the general public to apply for the one-year-free e-Cert with smart

in it. The general public can also register for
the free e-Cert in advance prior to their turn
to replace their ID cards via the Internet at
the Hongkong Post website, by post, by fax or in person at post offices.
On
15 September, Postmaster General, Mr. Allan CHIANG,
visited the e-Cert service counters at Hong Kong

Embed trusted root certificate via Microsoft

Post was admitted to the Microsoft Root Certificate
Program in July 2003. This means that Internet
Explorer and Outlook Express users of Windows
XP and Windows 2003 will now trust certificates
issued under Hongkong Post Root CA certificate.
Besides, users on platforms before Windows XP
can also pick up and install the Hongkong Post
Root CA certificate and Hongkong Post e-Cert
CA certificate to their operating system automatically
when they perform the Windows Update at URL, http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Please be noted that Root Certificate Update is not a critical update and users
need to explicitly click-open the optional Windows
98/ME/NT Update list to include the Root Certificate
Update.
The
admission of Hongkong Post to the Microsoft Root
Certificate Program is a solid proof of the trustworthiness
of the Hongkong Post CA System and e-Cert.

4)
International Fulfillment Service
Since
December 2002, Hongkong Post has cooperated with
Australia Post to launch the International Fulfillment
Service for Australian premium wines. All the
wines will be delivered to Hong Kong wine lovers
from Western Australia via Speedpost.
The
response from the customers is very encouraging.
We have received a lot of orders just within
a short period of time. In this regard, we have
searched for a range of best-quality Australian
Natural Products on top of the wines to satisfy
our customers' needs. These products, including
Avocado Oil, Honey, Pollen, Medicated Honey and
Sandalwood Oil, Apple Cider and Vinegar Honey
as well as Wildflowers, can be ordered as from
11 July 2003. Hongkong Post is also the sole
agent for these products. Customers can obtain
the product catalogues and order forms from all
local post offices, or visit http://www.hongkongpost.com/eng/shopping for more information.
